In this quick post we go over the 4 steps to relieving and managing low back pain and provide a video walking you through those steps.
In many cases, lower back pain is the result of poor movement health related to posture, tightness, and weakness in key areas of the body. These things can best be improved and maintained through specific exercises done consistently and progressed over time. Watch the video below were we go through the 4 steps to relieve and manage low back pain
1. Avoid positions and activities that consistently aggravate your symptoms. For example, if sitting bothers you try to get up more frequently throughout the day or sit with a support to avoid slumping
2. Try to find comfortable positions, exercises, and stretches that give you relief and perform them throughout the day to help manage symptoms
3. Normalize movement health through a structured exercise program that focuses on calming down irritated soft tissue and improving core stability, glute stability, hip and upper back mobility, and functional strength
4. Once pain is under control and movement health is within a normal range you should continue utilizing pain reducing exercises on an as needed bases while further progressing or at least maintaining functional strength. This is done best through a consistent exercise program
